Arch Insurance International and Ki have both announced senior appointments aimed at strengthening their respective underwriting and governance capabilities.

Arch Insurance International has named Stephen Convery (pictured above, left) as senior construction underwriter, with immediate effect.

In his new role, Convery will be responsible for supporting the development of Arch’s global construction portfolio, which provides cover for large and complex risks. He will be based in London and report to Tim Chapman, head of construction.

“Stephen is a recognised lead underwriter in the global construction market, with strong broker relationships and a deep understanding of the risks surrounding major construction projects. He is a fantastic appointment and will play a key role as we grow our construction portfolio,” Chapman said.

The appointment of Convery follows last month’s hiring of Chapman himself. He brings more than 25 years of experience in underwriting major infrastructure projects. His previous roles include global segment leader for civil works and EMEA head of construction at SCOR, where he was responsible for strategic oversight and underwriting performance across multiple jurisdictions.

Convery, meanwhile, joins Arch with more than 18 years of experience in the construction insurance market. Prior to this appointment, he held a similar role at SCOR.

Ki’s new non-executive chair

Meanwhile, Ki has announced the appointment of Jacques Bonneau (pictured above, right) as non-executive chair of Ki Financial Limited, effective July 1.

Bonneau was most recently president and CEO of PartnerRe before retiring in March 2024. His previous experience also includes senior roles at Chubb, where he served as group chief underwriting officer, and as a senior adviser to the Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA).

Bonneau currently holds a number of other non-executive positions, including with Brit Re and Novel.

Earlier this year, Ki also announced a partnership with QBE, which joined as a capacity provider.
