Five insurance and financial planning firms were granted Chartered status by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) in the second quarter of 2025.
The designation recognises adherence to professional standards and ethical conduct in the delivery of insurance and financial services.
The firms recognised between April and June were: Morgan Williams & Co, M4 Financial Group, The Islands’ Insurance Brokers, Hepburns Insurance, and M.J. Touzel (Insurance Brokers) Limited, which trades as Islands Insurance.
Chartered status is awarded to firms that meet defined criteria, including a commitment to the CII Code of Ethics, support for staff development, and the presence of a high proportion of individually Chartered professionals.
Morgan Williams & Co, based in Willerby near Hull, has operated since 1987 and focuses on investment, pensions, tax, and estate planning. The firm is part of Active Investment Managers Ltd and is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority.
The Islands’ Insurance Brokers and M.J. Touzel operate under the Islands Insurance Group, which provides personal and commercial insurance services across Jersey, Guernsey, and Alderney. Founded in the 1970s, the group became part of NFU Mutual in 1987 and currently employs over 120 staff.
Hepburns Insurance, also based in the Channel Islands, offers broking and risk management services for private and corporate clients. The firm continues to operate under its own brand following a recent merger with Islands Insurance Group.
M4 Financial Group is an advisory firm offering financial planning services. Additional detail about its operations and client base was not provided at the time of publication.
Nicola Stacey, president of the CII, said the new cohort of Chartered firms was joining at a time when the institute was reviewing its rules to ensure the status serves as a strategic tool for firms aiming to grow, differentiate, and adapt to changing market conditions. She added that the designation is intended to set participating firms apart in a competitive environment.
The CII’s “Chartered Ethos” outlines the commitments made by both the institute and Chartered firms, with the aim of reinforcing transparency and public trust in the profession.
