The company, now renamed ARAG Legal Expenses Insurance Company, reported gross written premium income of £141.4 million, compared to £139.3 million in 2023. The figures reflect continued growth during the integration period following the acquisition at the start of 2024.
One-off integration costs and the strengthening of reserves contributed to an overall loss after tax of £4 million, up from a £1.1 million loss after tax in the previous year. The combined operating ratio (COR) increased to 97.1%, compared to a restated 95.6% in 2023.
The underwriting result improved to £6.3 million, with claims costs and expenses remaining stable throughout the year. The company indicated that these results were achieved as the business underwent significant changes during the integration into the ARAG Group.
ARAG CEO David Haynes (pictured above) commented on the report, saying, “These final results for DAS UK show how we continued to grow the business throughout the integration.”
He also referenced the previously reported 18% growth by ARAG plc over the same period, noting that the results confirm the rationale for the acquisition and the progress of the integration.
Haynes added that the positive momentum has continued into 2025, expressing confidence in ARAG’s long-term commitment to steady and stable growth. The company has now completed the rebranding of all acquired entities, with these results representing the last to be reported under the DAS brand.
ARAG Group’s broader financial performance in 2024 showed a 17.5% increase in premium growth, with revenue up by €416 million to approximately €2.8 billion. The consolidation of the former DAS UK business was a key driver, resulting in the largest growth trajectory in the company’s history.
At the group level, the combined ratio rose to 90.6% from 87.6% the previous year, while claims payments increased from €1.2 billion to €1.5 billion
The company’s growth has continued into 2025, with ARAG reporting premium growth of more than 12% in the first quarter, reaching €898 million.
