The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Group is relocating its global headquarters and London base to 30 Old Broad Street in the City of London from March 2, 2026.

The move follows the expiry of the organisation’s five-year lease at 20 Fenchurch Street, known as the Walkie Talkie, at the end of February.

The new premises are intended to provide an updated workplace that supports collaboration between staff and offers members a central space to visit. The CII Group said the office will allow members to drop in, hold meetings and use on-site facilities more easily than at its current location.

Staying within the City was a key part of the CII Group’s property strategy, maintaining proximity to the Lloyd’s building and to many member firms’ headquarters. The institute has long held a presence in the Square Mile, occupying Insurance Hall in Aldermanbury from 1934 to 2018, then 21 Lombard Street, before moving to 20 Fenchurch Street in 2021.

The organisation said it was keen to restore more flexible access to meeting space and facilities for members, which has been harder to provide at the Walkie Talkie. The new base is intended to function both as a working hub for employees and as a touchpoint for individual and corporate members.

Matthew Hill (pictured above), chief executive of the CII Group, said: “We are delighted to be moving to a newly renovated office in the City that captures the energy, excitement and future-focused nature of the CII Group.”

He added that while the Walkie Talkie “has served us well for five years, but we were keen to see what more we could offer our colleagues and members,” highlighting expectations of “more space, more flexibility and better value for money.”

Hill also said he expects the new location to create an opportunity to recognise the contribution of the late Brian Caruth. He described Caruth’s “exceptional service and dedication to our professions” as something that “will never be forgotten.”

The relocation coincides with a leadership transition at the professional body. Callum Beaton began his term as CII president on January 1, succeeding Nicola Stacey, while Debbie Mitchell will serve as deputy president for 2026.
