BMS Group has acquired Istanbul-based insurance and reinsurance broker Oria Sigorta ve Reasürans Brokerliği A.Ş., strengthening its presence in Turkey as part of its wider regional expansion strategy across the Middle East.

Under the agreement, Oria’s team will be integrated into BMS’s Turkish operations and adopt the BMS brand. The deal brings together BMS’s international platform with Oria’s local market knowledge, aiming to expand service offerings for clients and insurance partners both within Turkey and internationally.

Founded in 2019, Oria focuses on corporate insurance and employee health benefits.

The acquisition follows a series of recent moves by BMS to grow its footprint in Europe and the Middle East, including its acquisitions of UK-based David Roberts & Partners, Spanish firm Rasher, and its planned entry into the Dubai International Financial Centre, subject to regulatory approval.

“Acquiring Oria represents a significant step forward in our EMEA growth strategy. Their talented team brings valuable expertise and strong client relationships that will further elevate our capabilities in Turkey,” said Nick Cook, CEO of BMS Group.

Meanwhile, Oria founder and CEO Cenk Erden said the merger is a “natural fit built on shared values and a commitment to delivering high-impact, high-value solutions.” Erden will take on the role of chief growth officer and join the board of BMS Turkey.

The acquisition comes as BMS continues to invest in organisational development. Last year, the company named Ali Trauttmansdorff as its new group chief people officer. Based in London, she joined the executive committee and reports directly to CEO Nick Cook. Her remit includes overseeing talent integration following M&A activity, developing recruitment and retention strategies and leading initiatives in wellbeing, reward and diversity.

In October, the firm also launched the second edition of its early careers apprenticeship programme, which began in 2023. The initiative supports BMS’s five-year growth plan. It is delivered in partnership with organisations including Davies Group, Equity, East London Business Alliance and the London Market Group’s ‘London Insurance Life’ campaign.
