Assurex Global has announced the official launch of AG London, a new London-based broker created specifically for independent firms. AG London is initially placing business across 10 specialist areas.
The launch comes after the London insurance market experienced significant consolidation in recent years, with much of the sector now controlled by publicly traded and private equity-backed brokers.
This shift has left many independent firms seeking greater representation and access within the market. AG London aims to address these concerns by providing a platform governed by independent agencies and backed by more than US$46 billion in premium through Assurex Global.
Dean Hildebrandt (pictured above), president and CEO of Assurex Global, said, “AG London was built for all independents, and it’s here to stay.”
He added that the new broker is designed to provide a permanent solution for the global independent community, with a structure intended to ensure ongoing independence.
AG London operates under a charter that guarantees its independence, with no plans to enter the retail space. The company said that it positions itself as a wholesale partner, promising not to compete with its independent agency clients.
The launch of AG London is further supported by Davies Group, which has enabled AG London to operate as an Appointed Representative on the Davies Broking Services platform. This collaboration allows AG London to focus on professional and financial lines, marine, cyber, and other specialty classes from the outset.
For European risks, AG London will trade under the Davies Broking Europe platform, which secured Lloyd’s accreditation in July 2024. The broker’s direct model is intended to offer independent firms higher margins and improved operational efficiency, as well as a more direct voice in the London market through local contacts.
“For decades, independents have fueled the strength of our industry without always having equal representation in London itself. AG London changes that. With a direct model, we deliver better margins, greater efficiency, and a stronger voice in the London market. This is the permanent platform independents deserve,” Hildebrandt said.
In March, Assurex Global also expanded its North American presence by electing Cowan Group as its newest Canadian partner. Cowan Group, based in Ontario, brings nearly a century of experience and a workforce of 565 across six locations.
The firm serves a variety of industries, including construction, technology, and transportation, and is known for its specialised programmes in sectors such as auto dealers and marine.
