Kingfisher Insurance, through its classic vehicle brand Peter James Insurance, has launched a new specialist scheme tailored for members of the Morris Minor Owners Club. The initiative, named Morris Minor Owners Club Insurance, aims to offer comprehensive coverage and exclusive member benefits while encouraging participation among younger classic car enthusiasts.
Developed in partnership with the club, the scheme introduces a package of cover options designed around the needs of Morris Minor owners. It includes exclusive rates, multi-vehicle policies, free agreed value, laid-up cover, and legal expenses protection. Other benefits include member-to-member cover, UK and European breakdown assistance, and tools and spare parts cover of up to £3,000.
Significantly, the scheme provides access to fully comprehensive insurance for younger drivers – a feature not commonly available through most classic car insurers, which typically restrict policies to those aged 25 or over, according to a news release. Peter James Insurance also introduced an Accompanied Driver Cover option, enabling young enthusiasts to drive a Morris Minor alongside a parent or grandparent for a modest premium.
The company noted that the Morris Minor Owners Club Insurance scheme went live on October 9 and will be formally launched at the 2025 NEC Classic Motor Show at 13:00 on Friday, November 7, in Hall 5, Stand 440. Visitors will be able to learn more about the scheme and meet Dave Youngs, head of classics at Peter James Insurance.
“We’ve worked closely with the club to develop a bespoke scheme designed to fulfil members’ needs and offer a true benefit of membership,” said Youngs. “It’s been specifically with them in mind based on feedback from the club. I am thrilled to be working with the Morris Minor Owners Club again – a community (and car) that holds a very dear place in my heart.”
Simon Mitchell, club director of the Morris Minor Owners Club, added, “Our new and exclusive scheme has not only addressed members’ difficulties with obtaining cover but also provides unique benefits they cannot get anywhere else. The scheme seeks to provide cover for most members, from the youngest driver to the oldest.”
The partnership with Kingfisher Insurance builds on Peter James Insurance’s track record of developing tailored schemes with other historic vehicle clubs, including the Austin Healey Club and the MG Car Club.
