Willis Re has appointed Sankha Ghosh (pictured above) as executive vice president and group chief information officer.

Ghosh brings more than 27 years of technology leadership experience to the role, with a background in business transformation, digital innovation, cloud capabilities, and data management.

Prior to joining Willis Re, Ghosh served as executive vice president and chief information officer at AssuredPartners. During his tenure, he worked closely with senior leadership to create business value through technology, security, and process improvements. His earlier career includes senior CIO roles at Dollar Financial Group, GE, and Synchrony Financial, where he led global teams in delivering technology change.

Ghosh’s experience at Synchrony Financial included leading a team of 250 IT professionals to deliver technology, banking, and data initiatives. He spearheaded the re-platforming of an online banking platform with $40 billion in assets, enabling customer migration to digital banking.

“I am thrilled to step into the role of CIO at Willis Re and contribute to the next phase of its journey. Reinsurance is an industry where technology, data and innovation drive real impact for clients,” Ghosh said.

In recent months, Willis Re has made several key appointments as part of its broader growth strategy. The company recently named Neville Ching as director in Bermuda. Ching, who brings over 25 years of reinsurance broking experience, is expected to strengthen Willis Re’s presence in the Bermuda market, a significant hub for global reinsurance.

Willis has also expanded its reach in the United States, appointing Steve Blumhagen as a producer in Upstate New York. Blumhagen, who has more than a decade of property and casualty experience, is tasked with driving growth and strengthening client relationships in the region.

In another recent move, Willis appointed Louis Elwood as head of sports within its crisis management global specialty division. Elwood, who has 18 years of experience, will oversee strategic growth in sports and entertainment insurance worldwide.
