Willis Re has appointed Neville Ching (pictured above) as director in Bermuda, effective Sept. 1. Ching brings more than 25 years of reinsurance broking experience, with a background spanning London, Bermuda, and international markets.

Ching most recently served as chief executive officer at Reflex Solutions Limited in Hamilton, Bermuda, from February 2022. Before founding Reflex Solutions, he was managing partner at Capsicum Re Bermuda from March 2015 to January 2022, where he led the retro division and managed the Bermudian operation.

Ching also held the role of managing director for retro at Aon Benfield Bermuda between January 2007 and September 2014, following earlier senior positions at Aon in London, Towers Watson, and Benfield.

“I am excited to be part of this new venture from the outset," Ching said. "I look forward to working with colleagues to deliver real impact and to help shape a differentiated approach in the market.”

He brings experience in producing, managing, and placing large reinsurance transactions, as well as a decade of claims experience in both the London and Bermudian markets.

“It is a privilege to welcome Neville, whose expertise and reputation will be a tremendous asset to Willis Re,” said Lucy Clarke, Willis Re board member. The company stated that Ching’s appointment is expected to strengthen its presence and capabilities in Bermuda, a key market for global reinsurance.

Ching is a graduate of Charterhouse School. His appointment reflects Willis Re’s ongoing strategy to attract experienced industry professionals to support its growth and client service in major reinsurance hubs.

Last month, Willis also announced the appointment of Azad Kumar as growth leader for its energy, construction, and marine business in India. Kumar, who will be based in Mumbai, is tasked with advancing Willis’ specialization strategy and supporting clients in these sectors.

In April, the company also appointed Harry Merker as property and casualty cross industry sales leader and alternative asset insurance solutions sales, strategy, and execution leader for North America.

Merker is responsible for leading broking growth initiatives and overseeing sales efforts across 12 industry verticals. He previously served as chief broking officer – Middle Market at Aon and has held senior roles at Aon, Marsh McLennan, and other firms.
