Tysers has appointed Younes Younes (pictured above) as divisional director in its non-marine team in Dubai, strengthening the broker’s property capabilities within its reinsurance division.
The specialist broker said Younes will focus on developing its property portfolio across key markets in the region.
Younes brings nearly 10 years of experience in the reinsurance market. He most recently served as vice president at Guy Carpenter in Dubai, where he was part of the non-energy facultative team with responsibilities spanning property engineering and casualty, including both facultative and retrocession placements.
In that role, he worked with insurers across the Middle East and contributed to large international programs placed through London, Latin America and the Indian sub-continent. Before joining Guy Carpenter, Younes worked in the RI broking team in Dubai, covering MENA with a core focus on property and energy facultative business.
His arrival follows a broader leadership refresh at Tysers’ Dubai operation, which acts as a regional hub from its base in the Dubai International Financial Centre. Earlier this year, Tysers named Amin Basbous as senior executive officer for the office, giving him responsibility for day-to-day operations and for advancing the firm’s insurance and reinsurance franchise across the Middle East and North Africa.
Basbous said: “I am thrilled that Tysers Dubai continues to attract such talented individuals as Younes as we continue to expand our specialty capabilities across MENA.” He added that “Younes is a fantastic addition to the team, he has extensive sector knowledge, an excellent market reputation and a track record of delivering first-class client service.”
The build-out of senior talent in Dubai comes as clients in MENA face shifting risk profiles driven by changes in trade patterns, rapid digitization, climate-related events and evolving workforce models.
Industry research cited by Tysers points to these four forces as key themes shaping how organizations identify and transfer risk, prompting brokers to adjust placement strategies and product design in regional hubs such as Dubai.
“I am very excited to join Tysers Dubai, working with Amin and the team to drive strategic growth and development in MENA,” Younes said.
He noted that his focus will be on “creating effective solutions that protect Tysers’ clients, working closely with local and international markets to maximize our market leverage.”
