SCOR has announced a series of leadership changes to its executive committee as the reinsurer enters the final year of its Forward 2026 plan.

Philipp Rüede (pictured above), currently CEO of SCOR Life & Health, has been appointed group chief financial officer. He succeeds François de Varenne, who will step down as group CFO and deputy CEO on March 7, 2026, and transition to the role of senior advisor to the CEO.

De Varenne will remain responsible for closing the Q4 2025 accounts and the 2025 annual accounts, which will be announced to the market on March 4, 2026. Rüede will assume his new role on March 7, 2026.

Pilar Santamaria Cases, currently head of L&H Continental Europe and Latin America at SCOR, has been appointed CEO of SCOR L&H and will join the group executive committee effective March 7, 2026.

Laure Forgeron joined SCOR on Jan. 5, 2026, as P&C global chief underwriting officer. She reports to Jean-Paul Conoscente, CEO of SCOR P&C, and has joined the group executive committee.

The leadership changes come after SCOR reported net income of €217 million for Q3 2025, bringing the nine-month total to €642 million. The group's annualized return on equity reached 22.1% in the quarter and 19.9% for the first nine months, with the solvency ratio estimated at 210%, within its optimal range of 185%–220%.

Thierry Léger, chief executive officer of SCOR, said Rüede brings knowledge of the financial mechanisms that underpin the business, particularly in treasury, ALM and capital management. He noted these areas are central to the company's priorities for the years ahead.

"His contribution will be key to the success of our next strategic plan, which will be presented to the market in December 2026," Léger said. "This new plan will build on the progress achieved under Forward 2026, leveraging the strong platform we have established in recent years."

Léger also expressed gratitude to de Varenne, who served as founder and first CEO of the group's portfolio management company, now SCOR Investment Partners.

Rüede joined SCOR on June 1, 2025, as CEO of SCOR Life & Health. He previously held positions at Swiss Re, including head of reinsurance capital management and global head of P&C structured solutions.

Santamaria Cases joined SCOR in 2006 and has served as head of Continental Europe and Latin America for L&H since 2024. Forgeron previously served as chief underwriting officer casualty at Swiss Re in New York.
