Preferred Reinsurance Intermediaries, a subsidiary of Balavant Insurance Group, has named Tyler King (pictured above) as executive vice president.

King joins Preferred Re with nearly 15 years of experience in treaty reinsurance broking, most recently serving as senior vice president and treaty broker at Gallagher Re.

King’s background includes work across client services, operations, and broking, providing him with a broad perspective on reinsurance intermediation. He has developed expertise in originating, placing, and servicing treaty programs, particularly within the MGA and program business segments.

At Preferred Re, King will work alongside founder and president Bob Sanders and the leadership team to enhance the firm’s capabilities and expand market relationships. The company’s leadership has said that the focus will be on advancing Preferred Re’s growth strategy and reinforcing its position in the program business market.

“We’re excited to have him join us as we continue to grow our capabilities and deliver tailored, high-impact reinsurance solutions to our clients.” Sanders noted that King’s experience is expected to support the company’s ongoing efforts to deliver solutions to clients in the program sector.

Preferred Re is an employee-owned, full-service reinsurance intermediary and program broker with offices in South Carolina, New York, and New Jersey. The firm specializes in developing specialty insurance program business for managing general agents and insurance companies, and works with a range of domestic and international carriers to provide clients with access to diverse reinsurance capacity.

The leadership team at Preferred Re includes founder and president Robert H. Sanders, senior vice president Karen N. Basso, vice president David L. Coulter, assistant vice president Mike Husbands, vice president and contract manager Veritha W. Lee, and CFO Suzann M. Bartley.

The company said that it emphasizes direct client engagement with key employees and principals, rather than delegating to junior teams, as part of its client-focused approach.
