Liberty Mutual Reinsurance (LM Re) has appointed Andrew Aldwinckle (pictured above) as international casualty chief underwriting officer, effective Feb. 1, 2026. Aldwinckle will be based in London and will report to Chantal Rodriguez, CUO of LM Re.

In this new role, Aldwinckle will be responsible for setting the underwriting strategy and managing the performance of LM Re’s international casualty portfolio. The company underwrites a broad range of casualty reinsurance business from offices in the UK, Europe, Singapore, Australia, and Latin America.

Aldwinckle brings more than 30 years of casualty reinsurance experience to the company. He previously served as head of Europe and emerging markets, casualty, at Axa XL Re.

Rodriguez said, “Andrew’s wealth of market experience and proven expertise will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our international casualty capabilities, deliver on our strategic objectives, and build on our commitment to clients and brokers across key markets.”

Aldwinckle said he is looking forward to joining LM Re and contributing to the next phase of its international casualty underwriting.

“With a robust global platform and a clear commitment to underwriting excellence, LM Re is well-positioned to deliver smart, agile solutions for clients and partners around the world,” he said. Aldwinckle aims to work closely with local teams and cross-line leadership to support growth in key markets.

The appointment comes as Liberty continues to expand its operations and invest in new capabilities. Earlier this month, Liberty Company Insurance Brokers, part of the broader Liberty group, closed a US$525 million credit facility led by J.P. Morgan. The funding is aimed at supporting strategic expansion, investing in technology, and fueling new partnerships and hires as part of the company’s long-term growth plans.

Liberty Mutual Insurance has also expanded its product offerings with the launch of a new global cyber insurance suite. The suite, also introduced earlier this month, is designed to combine global capacity with local flexibility and includes products such as Liberty Cyber Resolution and Liberty Tech Resolution. These offerings are supported by Liberty’s cyber risk engineering team and a global vendor network.
