Everest Reinsurance has opened a new office in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), India.

The move follows regulatory approval from the International Financial Services Centers Authority (IFSCA) and marks an expansion of Everest’s Asia Pacific Reinsurance business, which is led by Kevin Bogardus (pictured above), head of reinsurance Asia and Pacific.

Jill Beggs, executive vice president and CEO of reinsurance, said the company sees India as “one of the most dynamic reinsurance markets globally, shaped by strong economic growth, and rising demand for the advanced, long-term reinsurance solutions we offer.”

“Everest has built strong relationships with many of India’s leading insurers over the years. Establishing a branch in GIFT City positions Everest to expand its partnerships with both local and multinational insurers, delivering tailored solutions to meet the evolving needs of this market,” Bogardus said.

In recent leadership developments, Everest Reinsurance also appointed Jiten Voralia as chief underwriting officer for global reinsurance, succeeding Chris Downey, who was promoted to executive vice president and group chief underwriting officer.

Voralia, who joined Everest in 2022, has held senior roles at Swiss Re across the US, Asia-Pacific, and Australia, and will continue to serve as head of North America Treaty Reinsurance until a successor is named.

Everest Reinsurance has also made strategic moves within its specialty lines. The company named Jonathan Mesagaes as head of renewable energy reinsurance, reporting to John Hyland, head of underwriting and marine. Mesagaes, who joined Everest in 2007, brings more than 20 years of experience in underwriting, risk management, and actuarial pricing.

In his new position, Mesagaes will support clients through the global specialties division, reflecting Everest’s commitment to expanding its specialty risk offerings.

In March, Everest Re also appointed Alex Haines as global head of engineering. Haines brings over 20 years of experience in the construction and engineering sectors, covering both underwriting and broking. His expertise is expected to further enhance Everest’s capabilities in providing engineering and construction reinsurance solutions to clients worldwide.
