Aon is strengthening its leadership in one of Europe's most seismically active regions, naming Dimitris Lymperis as chief executive officer and Evros Kyriakides as managing director of its Reinsurance Solutions business in Greece and Cyprus.
Both appointments take effect on February 16.
Lymperis, who currently leads Aon's Treaty Reinsurance team for the region, will replace Manolis Siatounis, who is departing the firm after 12 years.
The leadership team will be responsible for expanding Aon's treaty and facultative reinsurance offerings. Additional priorities include advancing analytics and product development while coordinating with colleagues across EMEA.
Greece accounts for half of all earthquake energy released on the European continent annually, according to seismologists. Yet property insurance penetration remains below 20%, and only 60% of property policies cover earthquake risk.
The appointments come as a state of emergency was declared in Santorini in late January after an earthquake swarm produced more than 800 tremors.
Cyprus presents its own opportunities, with its insurance industry managing assets exceeding €2.5 billion and its shipping and emerging oil and gas sectors driving demand for marine coverage.
Tomas Novotny, EMEA CEO for Reinsurance Solutions at Aon, said the appointments will allow clients to continue accessing capabilities across treaty and facultative business with data-led solutions delivered through a coordinated regional and global team.
Novotny also acknowledged Siatounis's tenure. "We wish him well for the future, and are grateful for his successful leadership and dedication that helped us to create a meaningful reinsurance footprint in Greece and Cyprus," he said.
The appointments are part of a broader pattern of leadership changes at Aon. In July 2025, the firm named Alfonso Valera as CEO of International for Reinsurance, with Novotny becoming Chairman of International.
In October, Aon appointed Andrew Secker as EMEA chief client officer and Daniele De Bosini as EMEA chief broking officer – moves aimed at accelerating reinsurance growth across the region.
Earlier in February, the firm named Karl Hamann as CEO for the Philippines, effective April 1. Hamann has held CEO roles across the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Malaysia, Singapore, and South Asia throughout his career with the firm.
Aon's Reinsurance Solutions recorded organic revenue growth of 8% to US$537 million in Q3 2025.
