Aon’s Reinsurance Solutions unit has appointed Tony DeMarco (pictured right) as managing director for reinsurance.

DeMarco will help design and execute casualty placements for clients, drawing on an analytical background and international experience, Aon said.

He brings about a decade of broking experience across large national and global professional lines and casualty treaty programs, with technical focus on long‑tail lines including professional, cyber and casualty.

DeMarco joins from Gallagher Re and holds the Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) designation.

In related leadership moves, Aon recently named Andrew Laing as UK CEO for reinsurance (subject to regulatory approval) and Rupert Moore to lead the Asia Pacific region, with the firm noting broader market conditions including record reinsurance capital and elevated catastrophe bond issuance heading into 2025.

Laing will continue as global facultative CEO, while Moore will combine regional CEO duties with a regional chair role for Aon’s Strategy and Technology Group.

In the United States, Aon also set a new leadership framework for its reinsurance solutions division by naming Stephen Hofmann as US CEO and Kevin Traetow as US vice chairman, both reporting to the firm’s Risk Capital leadership.

The changes formalize responsibilities that previously sat with co-presidents and align US leadership with Aon’s global structure across treaty, facultative and analytics.

Aon also expanded its senior bench in Asia Pacific, naming Soeren Soltysiak as CEO for Reinsurance Solutions in the region, overseeing treaty, facultative, analytics and operations. The appointment complements Moore’s move to the region and indicates a focus on execution across APAC platforms and client segments.

Earlier this month, the re/insurance broker also named Mehmet Shukri as head of UK client services for its reinsurance solutions business. He was previously deputy head of UK claims and client services for the same unit.
