Acera Insurance Services Ltd. has announced a new partnership with Guthrie Insurance Brokers Ltd. of Markham, Ontario.
Both Acera Insurance and Guthrie Insurance have a long history in the Greater Toronto Area, combining for nearly a century of service providing personalized and unbiased insurance solutions to individuals, families, and businesses.
Lee Rogers, Chief Executive Officer of Acera Insurance, said the partnership aligns with both firms’ shared focus on client-centred service. He added that the collaboration supports Acera’s efforts to build a strong Ontario-based team while maintaining its people-first values.
The addition of Guthrie Insurance marks Acera Insurance’s eighth location in Ontario, joining existing offices in Brampton, Burlington, Huntsville, Kingston, Newmarket, Ottawa, and Richmond Hill.
Amid an active mergers and acquisitions environment driven by foreign investors and insurer-owned aggregators, Acera’s status as a Canadian-owned, independent, and employee-controlled brokerage was a key factor in Guthrie Insurance’s decision to join.
Ryan Guthrie, president of Guthrie Insurance, said the firm sought a partner that shared its long-standing commitment to integrity and client advocacy. He noted that partnering with Acera Insurance allows the brokerage to strengthen its market presence while remaining independent.
The partnership was finalized on October 6, and Guthrie Insurance will transition to the Acera Insurance name in due course.
The move supports Acera Insurance’s strategy to preserve a competitive, independent, and Canadian-owned brokerage network across the country.
Earlier this month, Acera also entered into a new partnership with Pemberton Insurance, one of Vancouver's oldest independent brokerages.
The agreement, finalized on Sept. 2, marked Acera's first location in downtown Vancouver and builds on its existing presence in Burnaby and Surrey.
Pemberton Insurance is Canada’s second-longest tenured Lloyd’s coverholder and specializes in commercial and high-net-worth personal lines, including high-value homes, commercial property, and general liability. The 13-member team has joined Acera as part of the company’s growing national network of independent brokerages.
