Sedgwick has appointed Craig Gauthier (pictured) as executive general adjuster in Edmonton, joining the major and complex loss (MCL) division.
Gauthier brings 26 years of experience in property and casualty insurance, with expertise in complex claims handling, resolution strategies, subrogation, and property damage assessment. His appointment reinforces Sedgwick’s commitment to providing technically sophisticated claims management and protecting insurer and policyholder interests across Canada.
Lee Powell, vice president and executive general adjuster at Sedgwick Canada, said Gauthier’s knowledge in managing large and complex property and construction claims will be a major asset to both the team and clients, strengthening the company’s ability to deliver technical excellence in challenging loss scenarios.
Meanwhile, Devin Shillington, vice president at Sedgwick Canada, added that Gauthier's appointment reflects the company's ongoing commitment to enhancing Canadian operations and providing exceptional claims services across diverse insurance portfolios.
Gauthier said he looks forward to collaborating with the Edmonton team and colleagues across Canada to deliver high-quality claims management and results for clients.
By leveraging his extensive experience, Gauthier will support insurers in effectively managing claims severity and costs, helping to maintain stability in commercial and personal lines pricing. His expertise in subrogation and loss mitigation strategies can directly influence claim outcomes, potentially reducing the overall impact on premiums for policyholders.
Gauthier’s appointment highlights Sedgwick’s strategy of strengthening specialized expertise within its Canadian claims operations. For insurers, having a seasoned Executive General Adjuster managing complex claims enhances the precision and speed of claims resolution, reduces exposure to litigation, and improves recoveries. For policyholders, this translates into more accurate assessments of damages, fair settlements, and a reduced risk of extended disputes.
As Canadian insurers face increasingly intricate loss scenarios in property, construction, and energy sectors, Gauthier’s leadership within Sedgwick’s MCL division positions the firm to help clients navigate high-stakes claims efficiently, safeguard assets, and support long-term risk management strategies.
