The Centre for the Study of Insurance Operations (CSIO) has appointed Steven MacDonald (pictured) to its board of directors.
MacDonald serves as vice‑president of solution delivery at SGI CANADA and brings more than 20 years of IT experience to the board.
“The board and I are delighted to welcome Steven, whose experience and insight will be an asset to CSIO and our strategic initiatives to accelerate digital connectivity,” said Michael Lin, chair of the board and senior vice‑president and chief information and technology officer at Wawanesa Insurance.
MacDonald has held several leadership roles focused on enterprise systems architecture, cloud migration, and cybersecurity. At SGI CANADA, he directed business transformations and enhancements to core insurance platforms, the media release noted.
“I am pleased to join CSIO’s board of directors and support our shared vision of creating a more modernized and future‑ready industry,” MacDonald said. “I look forward to working with a dedicated team to further develop technology standards, improve data exchange and ensure success for CSIO members.”
The appointment comes as CSIO strengthens its executive leadership. In November 2025, the association named Kathryn Sinclair as president and chief executive officer, placing her at the helm of strategic initiatives to advance data standards and digital connectivity across the property and casualty insurance sector. Sinclair had served as interim president earlier in the year and previously worked as vice‑president of strategy and operations for CSIO.
In October, the association expanded its network to include four new members – Insurative Solutions, PURE Insurance, Cemiar Inc., and Quotey Inc. – signalling ongoing interest among insurers and technology vendors in adopting CSIO data standards and supporting enhanced connectivity in the broker channel.
CSIO is Canada’s industry technology association representing property and casualty insurers, vendors, and more than 43,000 brokers.
