Agile Insurance Group has made changes to its underwriting leadership across Australia, New Zealand, and London, with a set of internal promotions now in effect following regulatory approval.
Mark Hunt has been appointed group chief underwriting officer, moving up from his role as active underwriter of Agile Underwriting Services Syndicate 2427. He will now oversee underwriting across the group’s syndicate, service companies and MGA operations in all three markets.
Hunt has more than 40 years of experience in underwriting. He spent over 27 years at Lloyd’s before relocating to Australia in 2011, where he has since held underwriting management roles for a further 15 years.
David Hughes has taken on Hunt’s former role as active underwriter of Syndicate 2427 after being the deputy active underwriter. He is based at Lloyd’s in London and continues to represent the syndicate across all classes, with regular face-to-face access for brokers.
Hughes has worked as a marine underwriter in the London market for 27 years, having also helped set up syndicate operations in Hong Kong and Singapore.
In Australia, Mike Dalton has been given an expanded role as head of underwriting in Australia, on top of his position as group head of Aviation. He will support and manage the group’s underwriting teams in the region.
Dalton has 32 years of experience in aviation underwriting and class-of-business management across Australia and New Zealand. He also holds a commercial pilot’s licence.
“These promotions demonstrate the depth of talent we have in the team and provides team members the freedom to develop a broader vision. I’ve known each of them from different areas of the industry for more than 20 years, so I couldn’t be prouder to have all their talents working together to lead the underwriting business. I’m particularly delighted that we’re able to promote internally and to create opportunities for other team members,” Agile CEO Robin Barham said.
