Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China, Ltd. has established the "502 Overseas Emergency Assistance Task Force" following a deadly traffic accident near Yellowstone National Park on May 1. The crash in Idaho, involving a pickup truck and a tourist van, resulted in the deaths of five Chinese citizens and injuries to eight others.
The task force, led by co-CEO Michael Guo and senior executives, activated the company’s Level 2 emergency response protocol. Specialized teams across Ping An’s life, property and casualty, pension, and health insurance units are coordinating with local medical institutions and rescue organizations to assist those affected.
Ping An has introduced seven key emergency measures, including proactive claims service, expedited claims processing via a 24/7 hotline (95511 or +86 755 95511), and comprehensive medical support such as emergency care, transportation, and translation. The company is also offering simplified death claims, advance compensation for confirmed deaths, and claims processing without requiring physical policy documents.
Ping An’s emergency assistance is available to all affected individuals, not just its customers. They can call the emergency hotline 95511 for assistance.
The company is closely coordinating with the Chinese Embassy in the US, the Consulate General in San Francisco, and overseas aid organizations. As of 3 p.m. Beijing time on May 3, no Ping An customers have been identified among the victims, but the company continues to monitor the situation.
Ping An is one of the world’s largest financial services companies, with over RMB12 trillion in assets and a top 30 ranking in the 2024 Forbes Global 2000.
