Hong Kong’s Insurance Authority expanded its youth financial education campaign in the first quarter of 2026, bringing insurance and risk management lessons to more than 2,200 secondary school students across 58 schools in the city.

The initiative, called the Inter-School Quiz and Challenge on Lifetime Risk and Protection, targeted students from Forms 4 to 6. It was conducted in partnership with the Financial Education Centre of the Hong Kong Family Welfare Society (HKFWS).

According to the Insurance Authority, the program used an online quiz competition, supported by tailored learning materials and teacher-guided classroom discussions, to introduce students to the concepts of insurance protection and financial planning.

A post-campaign evaluation survey found that 72% of participating students said the campaign strengthened their knowledge, while 74% expressed willingness to improve their financial behaviour, the regulator said.

Beyond the online component, the Insurance Authority organized an on-campus event and prize presentation ceremony for top-performing schools. The event featured interactive game booths and themed challenge sessions with online influencers Freeeboyzzzz, covering topics such as lifetime risk planning, insurance fundamentals, and responsible spending habits.

A year ago, the authority ran a separate youth campaign targeting tertiary students, engaging around 2,000 participants through campus outreach and online activities. That campaign featured local singers YT Chow and Cath Wong as ambassadors and included visits to three tertiary institutions, where 180 students took part in interactive games covering insurance fundamentals, risk management strategies, and career opportunities in the sector.
