Canopius Group has announced that Paul Hackett (pictured) has taken an expanded role as regional head of distribution for Asia Pacific (APAC), effective March 1. This expanded role is in addition to his existing portfolio as head of marine for APAC and Middle East & North Africa (MENA) and as a member of the APAC executive committee.

As regional head of distribution, Hackett will help develop and execute Canopius APAC's distribution strategy while strengthening broker engagement across the region. He will report to Canopius APAC and MENA CEO Soon Keen (SK) Lee and Canopius chief underwriting officer Sam Harrison.

Hackett has over two decades of experience in the insurance industry, specifically in the specialty insurance market. He joined Canopius in 2018 and is an active member of the IUMI Facts and Figures committee and the General Insurance Association of Singapore (GIA). Hackett also became an Institute of Banking and Finance Singapore (IBF) fellow in 2024.

Prior to joining Canopius, Hackett held senior leadership positions at RSA, Catlin and Aspen.

“Paul has been a driving force in our regional success, and his expanded role is a testament to his leadership and deep understanding of the specialty insurance market. His ability to forge strong broker relationships and execute on strategic growth initiatives will be instrumental as we continue to enhance our presence across APAC and MENA,” Lee said.

“I am excited to take on this expanded role at such a pivotal time for Canopius in APAC. Strengthening our relationships with broking partners and ensuring seamless access to our broad product offering will be key priorities as we continue to grow. I look forward to working with the team to drive our distribution strategy forward,” Hackett said.
