Two major insurers have announced senior leadership appointments, reflecting continued focus on strategy execution and regulatory engagement amid a more complex operating environment.

Farmers Insurance appoints chief strategy & risk officer

Farmers Insurance has appointed John Pham (pictured left) as chief strategy & risk officer, a newly elevated role aimed at strengthening enterprise-wide execution and performance.

Based in Woodland Hills, California, Pham will report to Farmers Group, Inc. CEO Raul Vargas and will work across the organization to translate priorities into outcomes. His remit includes enhancing execution discipline, improving operational efficiency, and driving technology-enabled transformation across the business.

Pham joins from GEICO, where he most recently served as head of strategic business initiatives overseeing operational shared services. In that role, he led efforts to improve contact centre automation, customer experience, enterprise learning, and quality frameworks. He also previously held the position of chief information officer, where he managed large business units with profit-and-loss responsibility and implemented initiatives aimed at driving growth and service improvements.

MetLife names federal affairs, regulatory policy lead

MetLife has appointed Jordan Canter (pictured right) as head of federal government affairs and regulatory policy, effective April 20, as it strengthens its engagement with policymakers and regulators.

Based in Washington, D.C., Canter will oversee the company’s federal advocacy efforts and global regulatory policy strategy, reporting to Susan Greenwell, senior vice president and head of global government affairs. Her role will involve coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to support MetLife’s business priorities amid a shifting regulatory landscape.

Canter joins from Allstate, where she held senior roles focused on federal government affairs and public policy, leading initiatives across a broad range of insurance and financial services issues. Her background also includes positions at The Hartford and the Bank Policy Institute, where she worked closely with Congress, federal agencies, and industry groups on legislative and regulatory matters.
