Mission, the global MGA incubator, has agreed to back the launch of Kovrilo, a new UK-based managing general agent focused on commercial cover for small and medium-sized enterprises.
The MGA will offer a range of SME-focused products via the broker market and is expected to go live in early 2026.
Kovrilo’s model is built around a technology-enabled underwriting platform that allows brokers to adjust cover to the specific needs of individual small businesses.
The new business will be led by Tim Smith and Sonia Habib. Smith was most recently underwriting and product director at Jensten Group for six years and previously held roles at Policyfast and Aviva, while Habib also joins from Jensten, where she spent more than a decade and most recently served as head of product development.
Kovrilo joins a pipeline of Mission-backed MGAs that has been building through 2025, including Lumara Insurance, which recently launched to write commercial combined and motor trade combined business for SMEs and mid-market firms.
Mission’s support for Kovrilo also sits within a wider expansion of its UK footprint, with Lumara identified as its eighth UK launch. Chief executive Ross Dingwall (pictured above) has previously said the incubator looks to partner with teams that bring “proven track records, deep broker relationships, and a clear vision for their market.”
Market observers note that many of the newest MGAs are building modular and flexible policy structures, often supported by digitally enabled underwriting platforms, as they target specialist or underserved segments.
“Tim and Sonia exemplify the sort of people Mission is designed to support – a strong network of connections, a sharp understanding of what the market needs and a healthy desire to succeed,” Dingwall said. He added that “Mission is in an exciting period of growth with Kovrilo marking our second launch of 2025, and other innovative, exceptional MGAs still to come.”
Kovrilo’s launch adds to the growing number of MGAs targeting the UK SME segment with broker-focused, technology-enabled platforms.
