Miller has announced the appointment of David Robinson (pictured above, left) as CEO of its managing general agent (MGA) division and Neil Ross (pictured above, right) as chief underwriting officer.
Robinson previously served as CEO at specialty MGA Optio Group, where he also held the role of managing director overseeing underwriting, claims and actuarial functions. His career includes 25 years at Chubb and ACE, most recently as regional president for the UK & Ireland, with responsibility for property and casualty, accident and health, specialty personal lines and high net worth segments.
Meanwhile, Ross joins Miller from AXIS Capital, where he held several senior positions, most recently as head of retail for global markets. He brings over two decades of underwriting experience across liability, cyber and property lines, and has a background in launching digital underwriting capabilities to reach new business segments.
In their new positions, Robinson and Ross will lead the strategy and growth of Miller’s MGA business, aiming to establish a significant presence in specialty underwriting.
James Hands, Miller Group CEO, said the appointments represent a step forward in the company’s ambition to broaden its MGA offering. He noted that the focus will be on developing an underwriting-led MGA platform to create collaborative partnerships and deliver specialist expertise and products.
“This latest announcement is testament to that continued growth, as we build a more diverse business that can bring a broader range of solutions to the market,” he said.
Outside of its MGA division, Miller has also made several recent moves to strengthen its leadership team. Earlier this month, the company appointed Nick Taylor as head of direct protection and indemnity (P&I).
Taylor, who brings over 15 years of marine sector experience, will be responsible for developing the direct P&I broking team and enhancing Miller’s offering to marine clients.
The company has also expanded its specialist services in the Asia-Pacific region, appointing Midori Katayama to lead its Japan Desk in Singapore. Katayama brings more than 14 years of experience in treaty and facultative reinsurance, with a focus on the Asia-Pacific market.
In addition to leadership appointments, Miller has recently formed a partnership with Specialty Program Group Canada and NormanMax Syndicate 3939 to launch a parametric earthquake insurance product for commercial property owners in British Columbia.
Besides the developments on the MGA side of its business, Miller has also appointed Rodolphe Menn as head of France.
Menn brings more than 25 years of experience in the insurance sector. He served as managing director for RSA (Intact) in France since 2019. Menn began his tenure at RSA in 2011 as claims director for Benelux, where he managed teams across property, liability, construction, and engineering lines. His earlier career included positions at Zurich and Marsh France.
In his new role, Menn will be responsible for executing Miller’s business strategy in France. His remit includes driving commercial activity and fostering collaboration between the French team and Miller’s global network.
Menn’s appointment is effective from October 13. He will report to Tim Nagle, Miller’s head of Europe.
