Five years after its management buyout, JMG Group has reached its 50th acquisition with the addition of Profile Insurance Services.
Founded in 1997 by managing director Melanie Burns, Profile Insurance Services is a London-based brokerage known for its UK-wide client base. The firm originally gained traction by providing cover for high-net-worth footballers but has since diversified into broader commercial and personal lines. Its seven-person team has built a reputation for long-standing client relationships and a consistent service model.
“Becoming part of the JMG Group allows us to grow with the support of a like-minded business that genuinely cares about its people, clients and future," said Burns. "The move gives us consistency and backing to grow in a natural way."
Under the acquisition terms, Profile Insurance Services will retain its operational independence while receiving centralised support from JMG Group. This approach is part of the group’s model of investing in established brokers and allowing them to continue local leadership with access to shared resources.
Clients, according to Burns, will continue working with the same team, with added support behind the scenes to help the business develop in line with its current approach.
JMG Group CEO Nick Houghton said the firm’s acquisition strategy focuses on cultural and operational alignment rather than transaction volume. He said Profile Insurance Services fits this model, describing the business as stable and built around client commitment and operational consistency.
"Melanie and her team are experienced, loyal and deeply committed to their clients. They’ve built a stable, well-run business and bring a range of skills that will enhance our group’s proposition," said Houghton.
Since its formation through the 2020 management buyout of JM Glendinning Insurance Brokers - backed by private equity firm SYNOVA - JMG Group has grown through a mix of organic expansion and targeted acquisitions. The group now employs over 800 staff across 49 offices, ranging from Scotland to the south coast of England.
