Gallagher has announced a three-year partnership with Premiership Women's Rugby (PWR), becoming its official insurance partner as part of its broader commitment to rugby development across all levels.
The agreement builds on Gallagher’s eight-year association with Premiership Rugby and existing partnerships with World Rugby, the Women’s Rugby World Cup, and New Zealand Rugby, including support for the Black Ferns. The company said the new alliance supports its long-term goal of helping to nurture the next generation of rugby talent.
Through the partnership, Gallagher will promote the growth of women’s rugby on and off the pitch by creating leadership, coaching, and community development opportunities that reflect its corporate culture.
The announcement comes as women’s rugby continues to expand following record-breaking attendance and viewership at the World Cup in the UK. Gallagher said its partnership with PWR will help broaden pathways for women and girls in sport.
The company has already introduced several programmes supporting women in rugby, including the Gallagher High Performance Academy, a joint initiative with World Rugby aimed at increasing the number of female coaches and leaders in senior roles, and the Gallagher Touchline Academy, designed to train 2,000 state school teachers by 2028 through collaborations with Premiership Rugby clubs.
Commenting on the partnership, Genevieve Shore, executive chair of PWR, said Gallagher's involvement comes at a pivotal time for the league's growth and will help maintain the sport's recent momentum.
Sarah Griffiths, director of marketing and communications at Gallagher, said the firm views the partnership as a long-term investment in the sport's development rather than a branding exercise. She said the company aims to contribute to sustainable growth in the women's game and build on the momentum created by the Red Roses' success this summer.
For the insurance sector, Gallagher’s move also reflects the growing use of sports partnerships as a means of strengthening brand engagement and community impact. Increased visibility through professional women’s sport could help brokers and insurers reach wider demographics and build trust with younger audiences.
The alliance may also provide commercial opportunities in areas such as sports liability, player protection, and event insurance, where rising participation and sponsorship interest are expanding the risk landscape.
