SiriusPoint has named Martin Hudson (pictured above) as a board director, effective Sept. 1, with the appointment part of the global re/insurer’s ongoing board development.

Hudson brings more than four decades of experience in the international re/insurance sector. His career includes leadership roles in underwriting, risk management, governance, and executive management.

Since 2015, Hudson has served as an independent non-executive director and chair of the board for several organizations, including SiriusPoint International Insurance Corporation (publ).

He currently holds Independent non-executive director positions at Liberty Mutual Managing Agency Ltd and Liberty Mutual Insurance Europe SE. Hudson’s board experience also includes roles at Apollo Syndicate Management Ltd, MS Amlin Underwriting Ltd, Novae Syndicates Ltd, and Old Mutual Specialty Insurance.

Earlier in his career, Hudson held senior executive roles at Travelers Insurance, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group, and Old Mutual Specialty Insurance. His background spans wholesale and retail insurance, specialty and reinsurance markets, and operations in the US, UK, Europe, Canada, and Asia.

“Martin brings an exceptional track record in underwriting leadership, governance, and board stewardship across a number of organizations in our industry,” said Bronek Masojada, chair of the board at SiriusPoint. Masojada noted that Hudson’s experience with businesses during both remediation phases and growth strategies will support SiriusPoint’s efforts to strengthen its business and deliver long-term value for shareholders.

In addition to Hudson’s appointment, SiriusPoint has recently expanded its leadership team. Eleanor Gibson was named international chief underwriting officer, effective May 6.

Gibson, who brings 30 years of experience from roles at AIG and other major firms, will oversee underwriting and portfolio management activities across SiriusPoint’s international operations. Her responsibilities include leading strategic efforts focused on underwriting performance and growth.

SiriusPoint has also reported recent financial results that reflect its ongoing focus on operational performance. The company posted a second-quarter net income attributable to common shareholders of US$59.2 million.
