SIGNAL IDUNA Rückversicherungs AG (SI Re), a Swiss reinsurer based in Zug, has expanded its underwriting and pricing team with new appointments in September.

Maximilian Studer (pictured above, left) has joined SI Re as underwriting manager and will oversee the Spanish and Portuguese markets, taking over from Nicolas Schmidhauser, who will now focus on Eastern Europe. Studer will also be responsible for the German market alongside Thomas Bodenschatz.

Prior to joining SI Re, Studer worked at Korean Re Switzerland AG as a property and casualty underwriter for the DACH region. His earlier experience includes more than four years as a reinsurance broker at Aon Switzerland. Studer holds a master of science in engineering and management and a bachelor in engineering business management from Coventry University.

Additionally, Eric Dal Moro (pictured above, right) has been appointed head of pricing at SI Re, succeeding Sascha Kälin, who has moved to the newly created role of head of analytics. Dal Moro most recently served as group non-life chief actuary at Baloise Group.

Since 2021, he was responsible for quantitative risk management at Assura, a health insurer. From 2009 to 2019, Dal Moro held senior roles at SCOR, including head of group P&C reserving and later head of agriculture and specialty pricing. His previous positions include roles at Swiss Re, Ernst & Young, and AXA.

Dal Moro is a member of the Swiss and French Institutes of Actuaries, is CERA-qualified, and has served as Chair of the ASTIN Board of the International Actuarial Association. He graduated from the École des Mines de Saint-Étienne and holds a DESS in Business Administration from the University of Saint-Étienne.

The company also announced that Kälin, who previously led the pricing team, will now be responsible for the new analytics division, focusing on the advancement of data analysis and reporting capabilities.

In addition to these appointments, SI Re has also named Simone Debono as underwriting manager for Italy and Northern Europe. Debono, who joined last month, brings experience from Swiss Re and Munich Re, and is expected to help strengthen SI Re’s presence in those regions.

SI Re previously reported 10% premium growth following the 2025 renewals, citing increased demand for its reinsurance solutions and a focus on disciplined underwriting. The company attributed this growth to its diversified portfolio and expansion in core European markets.
