OnRe has appointed Tunde Olowofila (pictured above) as its new head of reinsurance, bringing nearly 20 years of global experience in underwriting and portfolio management to the company’s leadership team.

Olowofila’s background includes treaty and facultative reinsurance across specialty lines and structured programs. He has held senior roles at global reinsurers in London, Bermuda, and Dubai, managing portfolios in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, and the Asia-Pacific region.

In previous positions, Olowofila helped establish regional hubs, supported regulatory approvals across multiple jurisdictions, and developed underwriting strategies in expanding markets. He has overseen complex reinsurance programs under various regulatory frameworks.

At OnRe, Olowofila will lead underwriting strategy, overseeing risk selection and portfolio construction. He will work with brokers, cedants, capital providers, and regulators to develop insurance programs designed to integrate real-world yield with blockchain-enabled transparency.

His role will include scaling underwriting capacity, supporting the development of new insurance products, and strengthening regulatory relationships. He will also serve as OnRe’s primary liaison with the Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA).

OnRe is licensed by the BMA under both the Insurance Act and the Digital Asset Business Act, allowing it to accept digital assets as collateral while operating under a full regulatory framework. This dual licensing structure enables OnRe to bridge traditional reinsurance markets with decentralized finance protocols.

“Tunde brings deep reinsurance expertise and a strong command of the market to OnRe. He leads our underwriting and risk selection with clarity, discipline, and decades of trusted relationships,” said Dan Roberts, co-founder and CEO.

Olowofila’s appointment comes as OnRe expands its blockchain-enabled infrastructure through the launch of its ONe token, a digital asset designed to provide capital access to the global reinsurance market.

The token is supported by a blockchain-based liquidity pool and allows liquidity providers to participate in reinsurance yield, drawing returns from premium flow, collateral yield, and platform incentives.
