Re/insurance group Everest has appointed Mark Shaw as chief commercial officer for its international insurance operation, effective immediately.
Shaw will report to Adam Clifford and Jason Keen, co-leads of Everest Insurance International, and will continue his role within the global broking team under Anthony Izzo, senior vice president, chief global broking officer, and head of global facultative and hybrid solutions.
In his new position, Shaw will lead the international distribution strategy and client engagement model. His responsibilities will include aligning operational capabilities, strengthening broker and client relationships, and supporting business development in targeted international markets.
Shaw joined Everest in 2022 and has held several senior roles, including UK commercial director and global account lead. In those positions, he played a key role in building Everest’s presence in the London market.
Before joining Everest, he held senior positions at other global insurance carriers and brings over 20 years of experience in underwriting, distribution, and commercial strategy.
As part of his role, Shaw will also oversee the expansion of Everest’s distribution leadership team. This includes recent initiatives involving the company’s UK and European retail operations, client practice areas, and the Everest Global Markets division.
“Mark is an exceptional commercial leader with a proven track record of building high-performing teams and delivering strong outcomes for clients and brokers. His experience and insight across the UK and international markets will be key to elevating our market engagement and further expanding our global distribution platform,” Clifford said.
Shaw’s appointment follows Everest Insurance International’s recent consolidation of its specialty insurance operations into a single unit, integrating marine, aviation, energy and construction, cyber, and industry practice lines.
In the US, Everest Insurance has also made structural changes to support regional growth. Earlier this year, Steve Reiss was appointed as Northeast regional executive to oversee service delivery and performance across the region.
