Upon completion of the transaction, KKR is expected to hold approximately 11.27% of Peak Re’s issued share capital, while Quadrantis Capital will hold about 1.80%. The majority shareholder, Fosun International Limited, will retain approximately 86.71%.
Prudential Financial, Inc. (Prudential), which previously held an approximate 13.07% minority stake, has divested its interest following the signing of the new agreements.
The latest investments are expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Peak Re remains primarily owned by Fosun International Limited through Peak Reinsurance Holdings Limited.
The companies said that the partnership is not anticipated to impact Peak Re’s financial stability, operations, leadership, or ratings. Peak Re said the new investment will reinforce its commitment to serving global clients, supported by ring-fencing arrangements and corporate governance standards.
“Peak Re was established to support the growth and resilience of economies and communities in emerging markets across Asia and beyond,” said Franz-Josef Hahn, CEO of Peak Re.
He said that with KKR and Quadrantis Capital joining as investors, the company is strengthening its platform to innovate, serve clients, and pursue quality growth globally.
The announcement follows a period of strategic expansion for Peak Re. Earlier this year, the company re-established its Bermuda-based subsidiary, Peak Reinsurance AG, to underwrite casualty risks. This move is designed to broaden Peak Re’s international reach and provide additional capacity for casualty reinsurance, complementing its operations in Hong Kong and Zurich.
Financially, Peak Re reported its second-highest net profit in company history for the 2024 financial year, with net profit reaching US$120 million and gross written premiums totaling US$2.3 billion. Hahn attributed this performance to disciplined underwriting and a diversified portfolio, highlighting the company’s focus on sustainable growth and risk management.
