Hannover Re has appointed Kris Boundy (pictured above) as general manager of reinsurance business at Hannover Life Re of Australasia, effective April 2026.
Based in Sydney, she will oversee operations including client relationships, product development and pricing across group, retail, longevity and structured solutions.
The move strengthens the Australian unit of Hannover Life Re at a time when the local life reinsurance market continues to benefit from normalizing post-COVID mortality rates and sustained demand for annuity and longevity products.
An ageing population in Australia has supported this trend, as retirees seek greater protection and income certainty in retirement.
Boundy most recently served as head of group pricing at Hannover Life Re of Australasia, representing an internal promotion. She brings nearly two decades of actuarial, pricing and client-focused reinsurance experience gained in Australia and Canada.
She is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and holds an honours bachelor of mathematics in actuarial science from the University of Waterloo.
Hannover Re reported a 13.4% increase in group net income to €2.6 billion for the 2025 financial year. Its life and health reinsurance segment delivered a net service result of €903 million, exceeding internal targets, with gross reinsurance revenue climbing to €8.0 billion.
These 2025 results reflect ongoing strength in the life reinsurance division, particularly in longevity covers and financial solutions, which remained in particularly high demand among clients despite a competitive environment.
The appointment also comes as the global life reinsurance sector navigates growth opportunities while maintaining a cautious approach to risk. Hannover Life Re of Australasia offers solutions ranging from traditional risk covers to capital-motivated financial solutions, helping local insurers manage capital and exposure in a competitive environment.
Hannover Re remains one of the largest global players in life and health reinsurance.
