Gallagher Re has named Scott Cobon (pictured above) as head of strategic solutions in Bermuda. In the role, Cobon will focus on capital structuring, investor engagement, and expanding the broker's Bermuda platform.

Cobon will report to head of Bermuda Ben Radford and will work with Gallagher Securities across its Capital Advisory and ILS teams.

Cobon joins from Artex, where he served as managing director of insurance management services. His background includes risk management, capital structuring, and client relationship management across multiple regions and divisions.

Radford said Cobon's experience will support the firm's efforts to connect Bermuda-based reinsurance firms, investors, and other market participants.

"As well as facilitating interactions between Bermuda re/insurance firms, investors, and other industry participants, Scott's background means we will be able to foster greater collaboration with the wider Gallagher global network, including Artex," he said.

The appointment follows recent additions to Gallagher Re's Bermuda operation, including Andrew Phelan as chairman of global credit, surety (excluding the US), and political risk, and Rachel Barnes as a senior property retro broker.

Radford said the firm plans to continue building out its Bermuda capabilities. "We remain committed to investing in areas that further complement our on-island product offering and will bolster the team where we see greatest opportunities for further growth," he said.

The appointment is also part of Gallagher Re's broader strategy of global scale and specialization. In December, the broker agreed to acquire South Africa-based Resilea, the largest independent reinsurance broking firm in Johannesburg.

Earlier moves included the acquisition of Australia's Steadfast Re and the launch of a dedicated captives risk transfer team within its global facultative business.

The Bermuda hire also comes as Gallagher Re prepares for a leadership transition. Chairman Patrick "Paddy" Jago will retire at the close of 2026 after a 50-year career. CEO Tom Wakefield said Jago has been "instrumental" to the success and growth of Gallagher Re.
