Envelop Risk has appointed JayLynn M. Hines (pictured) as vice president and underwriter in Bermuda, adding cyber treaty underwriting experience to a platform offering proportional, non-proportional and bespoke risk-transfer structures.

The appointment follows Envelop Risk’s September 2025 announcement of underwriting appointments, including Michael Murdoch-Smith, Hines and Sarah Kennerley, which the firm said would support its cyber strategy across both its Bermuda and London platforms.

In the Bermuda role, Hines will report to Murdoch-Smith. Hines brings nearly a decade of industry experience, most recently from Ariel Re BDA, where she served as assistant vice president and underwriter – cyber and led underwriting for the cyber treaty portfolio.

Her tenure at Ariel Re included multiple positions over several years. She served as assistant vice president and as underwriter – cyber. Prior roles at the reinsurer included assistant underwriter – cyber, underwriting assistant, and reinsurance analyst.

Before joining Ariel Re in 2021, Hines worked at Chubb as assistant underwriter. She also completed a catastrophe modeling internship and participated in the ACE Select Internship Program in 2015.

Outside her underwriting roles, Hines has served as vice president of the Bermuda CPCU Society under The Institutes CPCU Society since January 2025.

Envelop Underwriting said it values “trust, transparency, flexibility and ‘explainability’” when partnering with brokers and cedants. The firm said understanding a cedant’s needs, in detail, is central to how it matches cyber and emerging risk solutions to each cedant, and that its underwriting approach is data-driven.

In outlining its business model, the company said structures typically cover proportional and non-proportional arrangements, as well as bespoke programs and arrangements. Envelop said it has written over $1bn in GWP in 2024, with capacity available from reinsurance marketplaces in Bermuda and Lloyd’s of London.
