Specialty re/insurer Canopius Group has appointed Katherine Letsinger (pictured above, left), Torbjörn Magnusson (pictured above, middle) and Tom Bradley (pictured above, right) as independent non-executive directors to its board as part of a broader succession plan.
The moves coincide with the retirement of long-serving board members Ian Owen and Paul Ceurvorst at the December meeting, with Peter Hazell scheduled to leave the board in March 2026.
Letsinger will join the boards of Canopius Group Limited and, subject to regulatory approval, Canopius Managing Agents Limited in March 2026 as chair of the audit committees for both entities. She will also sit on the remuneration, risk and nominations and governance committees.
Letsinger has nearly 40 years of experience in the specialty insurance sector, most recently as group chief financial officer at Tokio Marine HCC Insurance Holdings (International) Ltd. Her previous roles include senior positions at Wellington Underwriting plc and Price Waterhouse Insurance Services, as well as service as an independent non-executive director at UK Trader Exports.
To support a smooth transition, Letsinger will shadow Hazell in his role as audit chair for both Canopius Group Limited and Canopius Managing Agents Limited at the December 2025 and February 2026 board meetings. She is due to assume the audit chair responsibilities in March 2026, following Hazell’s retirement.
Magnusson has joined the Canopius Group Limited board as chair of the risk committee and will also serve on the audit, remuneration, environment, social and sustainability, and nominations and governance committees.
He has more than 30 years of leadership experience in European insurance and financial services, including as group CEO of Sampo Group plc and previously as president and CEO of If P&C Insurance.
Magnusson currently serves as a board director at Hastings Group. Canopius said he brings experience in risk management, strategy and board leadership to his new role.
Bradley has joined the Canopius Group Limited board as a member of the audit and risk committees. He has more than 40 years of experience across insurance, reinsurance and financial services, including as executive chair and chief executive officer of Argo Group, and as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Allied World Assurance Company, Fair Isaac Corporation and head of operations at Zurich North America.
Bradley is currently an independent director at Horace Mann Educators Corporation, Palomar Holdings and CopperPoint Insurance Co. According to Canopius, he brings expertise in financial reporting, audit oversight, strategic transactions and investor engagement to the board.
“We are delighted to welcome Katherine, Torbjörn, and Tom to the Board,” group chair Andy Haste said, adding that their insurance and industry experience will “further strengthen our financial and risk governance, and support our long-term strategy.”
He also thanked Owen, Hazell and Ceurvorst for their “outstanding contribution and commitment to Canopius over many years.”
