Arundo Re has appointed Raphaël Marin (pictured) as non-life underwriter and actuary for the Latin America market.
Marin brings experience across underwriting, actuarial consulting, and treaty structuring, with a background in both European and international insurance markets.
Marin holds a degree from the Institute of Financial and Insurance Sciences (ISFA) and is certified by the French Institute of Actuaries. His career includes roles in consulting, technical pricing, and profitability analysis. He most recently worked as a freelance actuary and co-founder of a coliving project in the French Alps.

Prior to his freelance work, Marin spent over six years at MAPFRE RE. He served as a life and health underwriter and actuary in Milan, focusing on the Italian market, and previously worked in Paris, supporting subsidiaries in France, Italy, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Scandinavia.
He also held a business development position at Crédit Agricole Assurances, where he managed underwriting and financial relations with national clients.
Marin’s earlier career included nearly four years with Optimind as an actuarial consultant, with assignments in France and across Central and North Africa. He also completed a year-long world tour through 13 countries in Asia, Oceania, and South America.
He is fluent in French, Spanish, English, and Italian and has worked extensively in multicultural environments.
“Joining Arundo Re means becoming part of a forward-thinking team with a collaborative spirit. I’m excited to contribute to impactful projects and help strengthen our presence in such a vibrant and diverse region,” Marin said.
The appointment follows a series of strategic steps by Arundo Re to increase its presence in Latin America. During the January 2025 renewals, the company reported €970 million in premiums, a 13% year-over-year increase.
Hervé Nessi, chief underwriting officer at Arundo Re, said Marin’s appointment reflects the company’s focus on maintaining momentum across different markets.
“Raphaël's arrival demonstrates our determination to maintain the momentum we have built up in the Latin American market. He has a solid understanding of the technical issues and an ability to negotiate with local players,” Nessi said.
Arundo Re has also seen broader business growth across its global operations. For the 2024 fiscal year, the firm reported a 15% increase in turnover, reaching €1.361 billion. Growth was driven by performance across non-life and specialty lines in all operating regions, with Latin America among its key contributors.
