Tom Lima

Tom brings a distinctly multifaceted background to the liability market, shaped by early experience in property management, residential and commercial real estate, and a formative stint in criminal law. Now a liability broker within ICIB Brokerweb’s specialist liability team, he draws on several years in the industry, including prior time with WTW’s Pacific team, to navigate the nuances of complex risks with an advocate’s precision. A graduate of the University of Auckland and an admitted Barrister and Solicitor, Tom combines legal fluency with a practical understanding of how clients operate day to day, grounding his work in both technical insight and commercial reality.

In his broking practice, Tom brings a disciplined, argument‑driven approach reframing difficult exposures, asking sharper and often overlooked questions, and developing strategies that move challenging placements toward credible, insurable solutions. His legal background adds another layer of value on the contract side, where he zeroes in on the quiet but critical pitfalls that can undermine coverage: run‑off obligations, hold harmless clauses, indemnity mismatches, and other structural risks that can disrupt a professional indemnity programme when it matters most. Colleagues and clients describe his work as clear‑eyed, detail‑attentive, and relentlessly solutions‑focused—traits that continue to define his contribution to the liability space
