Fidelity Life is encouraging adviser businesses across New Zealand to participate in its Career Connect employer registry, an initiative aimed at linking recent graduates of its financial adviser training programme with employment opportunities in the sector.
The registry enables advice firms to express interest in offering placements to individuals who have completed the Career Connect programme, which is designed for those entering the financial advice industry for the first time.
By joining, businesses can access a pool of candidates who have received foundational training and are seeking to gain practical experience.
Nick Wells (pictured), director at Amicus Group, shared his perspective on the benefits of the initiative.
“Partnering with the Fidelity Life Career Connect programme has been a real advantage for our business. We have welcomed two graduates into our team, and both have quickly become valuable contributors. The programme sets them up with a strong foundation in financial services, but what’s impressed us most is the energy, fresh perspective, and genuine enthusiasm they’ve brought from day one,” he said.
Since its launch, Career Connect has contributed to the recruitment and qualification of approximately 50 new advisers, with more than 60% of graduates securing positions within the financial services sector in New Zealand.
Fidelity Life reports that the programme is helping to address industry needs by introducing new talent and perspectives.
Michelle Doyle, head of solutions at Fidelity Life, noted that the 2025 intake is the largest to date, with 30 candidates selected from over 70 applicants.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for adviser businesses looking to grow or future-proof their teams. It’s a chance to connect with emerging talent who are ready to make an impact. We’re thrilled to see such a passionate group coming through, eager to become customer-focused advisers who will help shape the future of advice,” she said.
Adviser businesses interested in participating can register through the Career Connect employer registry or contact the Career Connect team at careerconnect@fidelitylife.co.nz. The deadline for registration is Oct. 30.
In other news, Fidelity Life’s Adviser Edge initiative – now in its second year – continues to provide professional development for advisers across the country.
The programme includes a combination of workshops, peer learning sessions, and industry-led discussions, covering areas such as leadership, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence.
A new component introduced in 2024 was an overseas study tour, where 19 advisers travelled to Sydney and Melbourne to engage with business leaders and academics. The tour was designed to expose advisers to international perspectives and encourage the adoption of new strategies in their practices.
