ICIB Brokerweb Group has announced the acquisition of AssureMe, a life and health insurance specialist based in Auckland.
The move is part of the group’s ongoing strategy to strengthen its service offering, particularly within New Zealand’s Chinese and Asian communities.
AssureMe, led by principal Caroline Liang, has operated for over a decade as an independent practice.
Liang, who has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services sector, will bring her expertise in personal insurance, including life, disability, trauma, and health cover, as well as business-focused solutions such as key person and employee benefits insurance.
Liang has been active in local business associations and community groups, particularly those serving the Chinese community.
She said joining ICIB Brokerweb would allow her to offer a wider array of insurance solutions to her clients.
“I am looking forward to working with the ICIB Brokerweb team and offering a greater range of services to my loyal clients. Both our businesses take great care in looking after our valued clients, so coming together is a win for everyone,” Liang said.
ICIB life northern manager Zac Emery said the addition of Liang and AssureMe would help the group reach more clients in the Asian business sector.
“We are excited to welcome Caroline to our business and expand our specialist life and health services into the wider Asian community. With her background and expertise, Caroline is also a great complement to our Asian business division, enabling us to offer a wider range of property and people risks to our existing Chinese clients,” he said.
The AssureMe acquisition coincides with ICIB Brokerweb’s 50th anniversary.
The company, which began operations in 1975 as Industrial and Commercial Insurance Brokers Ltd, has grown through a series of mergers and acquisitions. Today, it employs more than 320 people across 18 locations nationwide.
Managing director Grant Milne said employee ownership remains central to the company’s identity and approach to client service.
“We are not only extremely proud of our Kiwi heritage over the last 50 years, but the fact that our business is still managed by employee shareholders. Having acquired three small broking firms this year alone, we look forward to our continued growth while still maintaining our focus on building valued client relationships and providing excellent risk and insurance advice to our clients,” he said.
ICIB Brokerweb’s recent expansion includes other acquisitions in 2025 designed to strengthen its expertise and expand its insurance offerings.
In February, Christchurch-based Connect and Grow Ltd joined the group. Its founder, Kerstin Bain, now serves as employee benefits growth and development manager.
In March, the group added The Southern Group, a Canterbury firm specialising in small business risk management, to its portfolio. Founder Ryan Beswick, who has a background in financial advice and the defence force, said the move would help him continue supporting small and medium-sized enterprises.
