New Zealand Rugby has confirmed a new sponsorship deal with US-based Gallagher Insurance, marking the end of its search for a kit sponsor following the abrupt departure of Ineos Group.
Effective from the upcoming season, the multi-year agreement gives Gallagher naming rights on the training and match-day shorts worn by the All Blacks, the Black Ferns, the Māori All Blacks, and both the men’s and women’s sevens teams. The company’s branding will also feature on referee jerseys across domestic competitions.
As part of the agreement, All Blacks playmaker and two-time World Rugby Player of the Year Beauden Barrett has signed on as a global ambassador for Gallagher.
“This is a partnership that reflects the scale, ambition and passion for rugby both our organisations have. We couldn’t be more excited to align with Gallagher Insurance, who already have deep expertise in elite sport, along with a key business focus in New Zealand and globally. This partnership helps solidify where we’re heading, not just with our teams on field, but as a sporting brand off the field too,” NZR chief executive Mark Robinson said.
The deal comes after a legal dispute with former sponsor Ineos, who terminated its six-year contract just halfway through. New Zealand Rugby took action after Ineos failed to deliver its first payment for 2025, leading to the early cancellation of the partnership.
Gallagher Insurance is active in sports marketing globally. The company currently holds naming rights for England’s top-tier club rugby competition and has ongoing partnerships in baseball, basketball, and American football.
