Paramount Insurance, an Auckland-based brokerage with a history spanning more than 30 years, has joined the ICIB Brokerweb Group.
The move brings together Paramount’s established presence in the aged care insurance market with ICIB Brokerweb Group’s national network.
Founder Ian Atkinson and office manager Tracy Robinson will remain with the business, continuing to manage relationships with existing clients.
Atkinson said the transition was guided by a desire to maintain service continuity and uphold longstanding client relationships.
“We could see straight away that ICIB shared our commitment to providing consistency of service and a great claims experience. During the last 30 years, a lot of our friends have become clients, and a lot of our clients have become friends, so we needed to be reassured that we could continue to offer that personalised but still advice-led service,” he said.
ICIB Brokerweb Group’s Auckland regional manager, Mark Gustafson, highlighted the value Paramount brings to the group, particularly in the aged care sector.
“We are not only pleased to have the calibre of experience and professionalism that Ian and Tracy bring, but also their expertise in aged care. Risk and insurance for retirement villages and care facilities is very specialised, so it is great to be able to expand our current book of business within this area,” he said.
The acquisition of Paramount Insurance follows a milestone for ICIB Brokerweb Group, which recently marked its 50th year in the New Zealand insurance broking and risk advisory market.
The company began in 1975 as Industrial and Commercial Insurance Brokers Ltd, founded by Colin Evans and James Crisp Ltd, and has since expanded through a series of mergers and acquisitions. Today, the group operates with over 320 staff across 18 offices nationwide.
Managing director Grant Milne said that employee ownership remains central to the company’s operations and growth strategy.
“We are not only extremely proud of our Kiwi heritage over the last 50 years, but the fact that our business is still managed by employee shareholders. Having acquired three small broking firms this year alone, we look forward to our continued growth while still maintaining our focus on building valued client relationships and providing excellent risk and insurance advice to our clients,” he said.
In 2025, ICIB Brokerweb Group has broadened its reach through several acquisitions aimed at deepening its sector expertise.
In February, Christchurch-based Connect and Grow Ltd joined the group, with founder Kerstin Bain taking on the role of employee benefits growth and development manager.
March saw the addition of The Southern Group, a Canterbury firm led by financial adviser and former defence force member Ryan Beswick. The firm’s focus on small business risk strategies complements ICIB Brokerweb Group’s existing offerings.
To coincide with its 50th anniversary, ICIB Brokerweb Group has initiated a fundraising campaign to support three national charities: Hospice New Zealand, Women’s Refuge, and the SPCA.
Donations are being collected through the company’s Givealittle page.
