L'Unique and AIM Insurance achieve eDocs certification

Transformation

L'Unique General Insurance and AIM Insurance have both earned eDocs Certification from the Center for Study of Insurance Operations (CSIO), marking a key step forward in digital data connectivity between insurers and brokers.

The certification confirms that electronic documents now contain up-to-date codes and descriptions, allowing brokers to idenitfy the nature of each document without needing to open it. This streamlines workflows and supports faster, more accurate service for clients.

L’Unique updated all its eDocs in line with CSIO’s standards, while AIM Insurance implemented all 40 updated codes in its broker software, Automate Insurance. The move ensures that brokers can process clearly labelled eDocs efficiently, reducing administrative burden and enabling them to focus on client service.

Guy Lecours, chief operating officer at L'Unique, said the certification strengthens broker connectivity and supports seamless daily operations. Dan Avon, president of AIM Insurance, emphasized that the milestone reflects both insurers' commitment to industry standards and their focus on helping brokers foster stronger customer relationships.

This development is part of a broader industry push toward digital efficiency. With growing policy volumes and increasingly complex coverage, eDocs Certification allows brokers to reduce errors, accelerate processing times, and ensure consistent handling of client documents.

Analysts noted that standardized electronic documents also support interoperability between insurers and Broker Management Systems (BMS), enabling brokers to manage tasks more effectively and improving operational efficiency across the market.

Several other Canadian insurers have recently achieved eDocs Certification as well. Max Insurance and The Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group updated their eDocs to meet the latest standards, while Gore Mutual Insurance Company has also received certification, ensuring its electronic document transmissions align with updated industry requirements. With all BMS vendors implementing the revised standards, brokers across Canada can now receive clearly labelled eDocs directly within their systems, simplifying workflows and supporting more consistent service delivery.

By adopting CSIO’s eDocs Standards, these insurers are helping brokers improve productivity and operational accuracy, while reinforcing the importance of digital connectivity and data clarity in the Canadian insurance sector.
