Hub International Limited (HUB) has launched a digital platform aimed at helping small businesses in Canada manage employee benefits coverage.
HUB Small Business Benefits Solutions seeks to simplify group benefits and provide access to group health, dental, mental health, and income protection coverage that is generally more accessible to larger employers.
Small businesses, which account for nearly 98% of employer businesses in Canada, often face challenges in offering competitive benefits due to limited scale, budgets, and administrative resources. Many struggle to balance talent attraction with cost constraints and limited HR capacity.
Hub said its platform allows businesses to tailor benefits plans to their size, budget, and workforce requirements. The digital interface also supports plan selection and administration, aiming to reduce the time and complexity involved in benefits management and allowing owners to focus on core business operations.
“HUB Small Business Benefits Solutions gives small businesses access to quality of service, competitive pricing and negotiating power for their employee benefits,” said Matt Lievers, executive vice president, employee benefits Canada at HUB.
“By offering affordable, customized benefits, our clients can attract and retain top talent, enhance employee satisfaction and productivity, and demonstrate a strong commitment to the well-being and long-term needs of their workforce.”
The launch comes as Hub International secured a US$1.6 billion minority equity investment, pushing its enterprise valuation to US$29 billion, the highest recorded for a private insurance brokerage. The investment proceeds will be used to fuel further acquisitions, reduce debt, and support corporate initiatives.
“Our ongoing investments in innovation, proprietary products, and strategic M&A, along with our commitment to learning and development, have led to consistent performance and strength in our organic growth and new business generation,” Marc Cohen, chairman and CEO of Hub International, said of the investment.
