Definity Financial Corporation has earned eDocs and Compliance Certifications from the Centre for Study of Insurance Operations (CSIO), marking progress in improving data standards and broker efficiency.
The company obtained eDocs Certification after deploying updated eDocs Standards into production, enabling the transmission of revised codes and descriptions to Broker Management systems (BMS).
CSIO reported that all BMS vendors have integrated the updated codes, allowing brokers working with Definity to access the latest eDocs Standards within their systems. The revised, streamlined eDocs descriptions aim to reduce the need for brokers to open each document to identify its contents.
The Compliance Certification confirms that Definity has removed all non-standard coverage codes, known as Z-Codes, from its data exchange services with brokers. According to CSIO, eliminating Z-Codes and using only standard codes supports more accurate data exchange and a more consistent experience for brokers and customers.
Tatjana Lalkovic, senior vice president and chief technology officer at Definity Financial, said the certifications reflect the company’s efforts to simplify broker processes and improve service. She added that Definity continues to work with CSIO to maintain clear industry standards.
Kathryn Sinclair, interim president of CSIO, stated that Definity’s certifications demonstrate the impact of industry collaboration in advancing data standards and enhancing connectivity between insurers and brokers.
Earlier this month, CSIO introduced a Standards Certification Rating Program to recognise insurers and BMS vendors for their adoption of CSIO Data Standards. The program measures an organisation’s commitment to comprehensive standards aligned with industry needs.
The rating criteria were developed by CSIO’s Standards Governance Advisory Council to assess progress through certifications such as eDocs, Commercial Lines Data Standards, Compliance, API Security Standards, and the latest versions of CSIO’s EDI and XML Standards.
Insurers receive separate ratings for personal and commercial lines, while BMS vendors receive a single overall rating. Organisations that fully implement CSIO Standards and meet all criteria are eligible for the highest level, platinum.
