The Centre for Study of Insurance Operations (CSIO) has announced that its 2026 Members' Meeting and Reception will take place on April 30 at the One King West Hotel in Toronto.
The event will highlight CSIO’s 2025 accomplishments and feature a keynote focused on digital transformation and evolving customer expectations.
Geoff Vona, vice president and chief technology officer for the Digital Bank at EQ Bank, will deliver the keynote presentation. He is expected to share insights on how digital-first organizations are reshaping customer expectations through modern technology, including real-time capabilities and API-driven infrastructure.
These themes are increasingly relevant as carriers and brokers accelerate investment in digital ecosystems. The Canadian property and casualty market has seen continued progress toward straight-through processing, improved data exchange, and stronger integration between broker management systems and insurer platforms. API-driven connectivity is becoming a core enabler of these capabilities, supporting faster quoting, policy issuance, and servicing.
Kathryn Sinclair, president and CEO of CSIO, expressed her excitement over the event.
“Geoff Vona’s keynote will provide timely and thought-provoking insights as our industry responds to rising customer expectations for faster, more seamless digital experiences," she said.
CSIO plays a central role in advancing data standards and interoperability across Canada’s property and casualty insurance sector. Its work on standardized data formats and electronic document delivery has helped improve communication between insurers and brokers, reducing manual processing and supporting more efficient workflows.
The focus on real-time capabilities and digital banking parallels reflects broader convergence across financial services.
Insurers are increasingly compared with digital banking experiences, where customers expect immediate transactions, transparency, and seamless self-service functionality. This shift underscores the need to adopt integrated platforms that support real-time interactions and reduce reliance on manual processes. Furthermore, it highlights the importance of modernizing core systems and using data to deliver faster, more personalized products.
The keynote will be followed by a members’ reception, providing attendees with an opportunity to connect with industry peers and discuss shared challenges and opportunities.
