Sedgwick, the global claims management firm, has announced the addition of Andrea Phinney (pictured) to its Canadian operations. According to a news release, Phinney will serve as an executive general adjuster on Sedgwick’s national Major & Complex Loss (MCL) team.

Phinney brings over 25 years of experience as an adjuster, said the release, and has developed considerable expertise in managing intricate claims across various service lines. Her background includes commercial property, business interruption, construction defect, and diverse liability coverages. She has navigated high-stakes losses such as product recall, medical malpractice and catastrophe events with a focus on litigation and national account management. Her work, said the release, has supported clients in sectors ranging from hospitality and healthcare to public entities and transportation.

“Andrea has an exceptional track record in managing complex claims across a wide array of industries and service lines, she brings a wealth of expertise and strategic insight that will be invaluable to our clients and our continued growth,” said Lee Powell, vice president and executive general adjuster at Sedgwick Canada. “Her deep understanding of high-stakes loss management and commitment to excellence make them a tremendous asset to our company.”

Phinney welcomed her new role. “This opportunity allows me to bring my experience in complex claims and diverse industry sectors to a team that values leadership, forward-thinking solutions, and operational excellence,” she said. “I look forward to driving innovation, mentoring others, and contributing to the company’s continued success.”

Holding a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation from the Insurance Institute of Canada, Phinney is also an alumna of Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where she earned a bachelor of arts in sociology and criminology. She holds a Workplace Mental Health Leadership Certificate from Queen’s University and currently serves as an instructor at the Insurance Institute of Canada. Phinney is a past president of the Canadian Insurance Claims Managers Association, Maritimes.
