NFP, an Aon company and provider of property and casualty insurance, benefits consulting, wealth management, and retirement planning, has named Darrin De Stephanis (pictured above) as senior vice president, capital solutions and commercial surety growth leader.
Based in Vancouver, De Stephanis will report to Adrian Pellen, co-leader of NFP’s Construction and Infrastructure (C&I) Group.
The appointment supports NFP’s plan to strengthen its construction and infrastructure services across North America, particularly in the commercial surety space.
The firm said De Stephanis will focus on market development, relationship management, and expanding surety-related services in response to growing client demand for specialized support in an increasingly complex construction environment.
De Stephanis brings over a decade of experience in the surety industry. Most recently, he managed a national commercial surety portfolio at Intact Insurance, where he oversaw underwriting and strategy for a broad range of clients.
He began his career as a broker with Aon, focusing on surety and subcontractor default insurance. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and currently serves on the social committee of CFA Society Vancouver.
NFP said the addition of De Stephanis aligns with its broader objective to provide integrated risk management solutions in construction and infrastructure.
His appointment is part of a collaborative approach within the C&I Group, which includes co-leader John Hyland and Thomas Henn, head of surety for NFP. The team supports clients with tailored advice on bonding, capital access, and risk transfer strategies.
NFP’s C&I Group operates across both the US and Canada and serves clients involved in large-scale development, infrastructure, and construction projects. The group works with public and private entities on contract surety, commercial surety, and financial guarantee solutions.
