Mitch Insurance is continuing to build out its leadership bench as it scales, appointing Irfan Suleman (pictured) as director, personal lines client care.

Based in Whitby, Ontario, Suleman will report to president and COO Paul Harper, who joined the brokerage in November.

Suleman brings nearly 15 years of industry experience across both personal and commercial lines. He began his career at State Farm before moving to Buckley Insurance Brokers, which was later acquired by BrokerLink. During six years at BrokerLink, he held several roles and most recently served as a commercial branch manager.

“One of our strategic goals for 2026 is to deliver a more focused client experience by elevating our processes to better support our team,” said Harper. “Irfan’s a proven leader and his background across personal and commercial lines, combined with his focus on operational excellence and people development, aligns with where we're taking the business. He’ll play a key role as we modernize our service model.”

In Canada, the personal lines market remains challenging but broadly stable, with auto and home insurers still managing elevated claims costs from inflation, severe weather and supply chain pressures, even as rate momentum has begun to moderate.

Recent regulatory reforms in key provinces such as Alberta and Ontario are putting added focus on value, transparency and flexibility for consumers, while intense competition from direct writers and digital entrants is pushing brokerages to invest in technology, data and service models that deepen client relationships rather than compete on price alone.

Mitch Insurance said Suleman's remit will center on refining its personal lines client-care operations as the brokerage looks to accelerate growth and enhance service. Suleman pointed to Mitch’s client‑first positioning and growth ambitions as key factors in his decision to join.

“Mitch has long been known as an innovative brokerage that’s committed to putting clients first,” Suleman said. “We’re evolving how we work and use technology and data to consistently create exceptional client experiences. We’re also creating capacity to empower our brokers to have holistic conversations with clients, problem-solve, and strengthen the value they provide as trusted advisors.”
